Welch Allyn iCart Concept

For hospitals and doctors’ offices, the access, management, and privacy of medical records is an enormous and important task. WelchAllyn’s concept was to create a mobile computer integrated with their diagnostic equipment. Battery powered and equipped with a wireless connection, the iCart collects readings from the instruments and data entered by the physician, and immediately updates the patient’s records. The four wheeled cantilevered design goes easily from room to room and positions close to the bed, allowing more freedom of movement around the patient.Brownlie Design developed several iterations of the concept and built a working prototype for market research. In addition a graphic display was developed to simplify finding, entering, and interpreting the data.
